“Bringing Fun and Friends Together”

April 18, 2016

From the President…

Due to the lack of volunteers to fill our officer positions, it is with great sadness that the board of the Arc of Greater Manchester has voted to dissolve this organization.  At this time I would like to thank all the members who for many years have volunteered their time, expertise, and financial support to provide our social events.  I would like to mention certain individuals who have kept us afloat but fear that I may inadvertently overlook someone.  You know who you are and I thank you.

What does this mean for you?  You will no longer receive a membership dues invoice.  If you wish to continue membership in the National Arc organization you may do so directly through their website,

The Executive Board is presently pursuing another avenue to preserve our treasury balance so we may continue to provide dances and other events in the future.  Since it has not been finalized I am unable to confirm this at this time.  Our goal is to continue on a smaller scale with a smaller group of dedicated volunteers.  If you are interested in helping please make your intentions known by contacting any present officer.  If we are able to continue you will be notified of future events.

My hope is that people will find time in their busy schedules to insure that our special needs population can enjoy a better quality of life.  If you have a special needs family member that lives with you and you receive services from the Moore Center, you are welcome to join the Greater Manchester Family Support Advisory Council.  The Council meets the first Tuesday of most months at 630 pm at the Moore Center.  The Bureau of Developmental Services funds the council to provide support and opportunities for families to build relationships in their communities.  This is a great opportunity for you to keep informed of matters that affect your family and to empower yourself to meet the needs of your family member.  I would be more than happy to discuss this further with all interested parties.
